The Lost City
One of the Seven Wonders of the New World, Machu Picchu is simply incredible. Believed to have been built by the Incas around 1450 and abandoned less than a hundred years later, Machu Picchu straddles the spine of a ridge 1,800 feet above the rushing Urubamba River.
A true highlight of our small group tour in Peru, Machu Picchu’s architectural beauty, incredible natural landscape, position on the mountain, and energy held within its enigmatic structures is pure magic. It’s an incredible example of the Inca’s engineering feats, with each piece of stone cut precisely to fit into one another, no mortar required.
We’ve designed our small group tour itinerary to make the most of experiencing one of the world’s must-see archaeological sites. Arrive by bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu before taking part in a guided tour, learning about the history of Machu Picchu and the mysteries still unknown today. Then, take the chance to explore the incredible ruins at your own leisure before residing for the night at the nearby Inkaterra Pueblo hotel. Just a short drive to Machu Picchu, staying overnight at the Inkaterra Pueblo means we can rise early and be the first to enter Machu Picchu the following morning, getting a chance to witness the beauty one last time in pure tranquillity – as the sunrises and before the crowds arrive.
Visit Machu Picchu and experience the wonder for yourself on any of our small group tours to Peru.
