Paris, the city of lights, the city of love, and the city that’s oh so chic! We all know and love Paris but what is it about one of the world’s most famous cities that makes it ooze with elegance, style and charm all year round?
The architecture of Paris tells a story of the city’s rich history throughout the centuries and with no skyscrapers in the city center, the elegance of the historic architecture takes center stage. From gothic-style cathedrals to Renaissance-style palaces, baroque and neoclassical buildings to the influence of Napoleon and more recently Art Deco, Paris’ architecture is rich in variety.
Straddling both sides of the River Seine, the city is also home to over 30 elegant and decadent bridges. A stroll along the river will acquaint you with the bridges of Paris; don't miss the most famous, and definitely the most extravagant, of them all, Pont Alexandre III. The bridge is lined with sculptures of cherubs, nymphs and more, and connects Les Invalides with the Champs-Elysees.
The city’s buildings line grand boulevards that lead to iconic sights and an array of large open garden spaces. Wander through the streets, admire their elegance and then find yourself a spot on the grass in the beautiful public gardens to sit and take it all in. Our favorite spot? Place des Vosges, Paris’ oldest planned square located in the elegant Marais district.
Often referred to as the fashion capital of the world, fashion has a big influence on the local life of Parisians. Surrounded by the headquarters of some of the world’s most luxurious and credible fashion brands, local clothing boutiques aplenty, and a history of distinct fashionable kings, queens and icons, it’s easy to see why the locals of Paris are so influenced by fashion.
You can't miss visiting the shops that line the iconic Avenue des Champs Elysees or a visit to the decadent and beautiful department store, Galeries Lafayette. Head to Le Marais or Saint-Germain-des-Pres districts and shop where the locals do at small boutiques and high end concept stores.
Paris’ food scene is one of pure elegance and sophistication. From Michelin-star restaurants, to cozy bars and outdoor cafes, there’s something for everyone when it comes to food in Paris. Not only is the food delicious and exquisite, the restaurants themselves are second to none – iconic outdoor cafes with seats that line the streets, charming local bakeries, and a stylish restaurant scene.
Not only is the city dotted with restaurants and cafes , the city is also home to incredible markets that offer some of the city's freshest and tastiest produce. From freshly baked goods, to vintage cheese, fresh fruit and more, the markets of Paris are a feast for the senses!
