From delectable desserts and wine, a history rich in religious monuments and impressive architecture, to the stunning coast and natural landscape, savour every moment as you travel through Porto, Braga, Coimbra and Lisbon.

Tour highlights

Portuguese cuisine is eclectic and versatile, and of course delicious! Traditional meals can be enjoyed throughout the tour but it’s the desserts that really come out on top. From the classic Pao-de-Lo (sponge cake) to a traditional custard tart, there’s no better place to indulge in these delectable desserts than in their birthplace.

Religion holds significant importance in Portugal’s culture both past and present. A number of incredible monuments stand tall throughout the country as places of worship and as a reminder of the rich history of the country’s past. Baroque and neoclassical architecture are prominent in these monuments that are dotted throughout the country’s cities.

With canals meandering through its picturesque buildings, the charming and quaint city of Aveiro is often referred to as the Portuguese Venice. Take to the canals on a relaxing cruise and enjoy an afternoon in this enchanting city.

Day 1

Welcome to Portugal! This south-western European country is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and offers a stunning coastline, unique cities, a wealth of history, and incredible architecture. We begin our small group tour in Porto, a fascinating city that lies along the banks of the Douro River.

Our half day guided city tour of Porto begins after breakfast this morning. We visit the Stock Exchange Palace and admire the beautiful neoclassical style building from both inside and out before continuing to one of Porto’s most incredible Gothic monuments, the Church of St Francis. We take to the Douro River to continue our tour on the water as we cruise along the river and pass under each of Porto’s 6 bridges, learning about their distinct architecture and the part they have played in the fascinating history of the city. Our tour ends back on land with a port tasting at a local cellar door.

We enjoy the remainder of our afternoon and evening at leisure to get acquainted with the city further on our own.
